Barberstown Castle Wedding

This Barberstown Castle Wedding is one not to be missed. With a ceremony by the willow tree and dinner in the oldest part of the castle, Kerri & Jonathan’s wedding was a beautiful celebration of their love.

The bride is from the U.S. and the groom is from Ireland. They met in a bar in Pennsylvania where a group of mutual friends got together to play board games on a Sunday afternoon. Jonathan asked Kerri to be his partner and the rest is history.

Their wedding was the first time both families were able to meet after almost 8 years of them being together. It was important for the couple to kept it not only intimate but also fun and informal. Above all, they wanted to spend as much time as possible with their guests. Their plan was to have a little getaway weekend for both families and friends coming from the U.S. and abroad, as well as those who came from down the road in Dublin. Barberstown was the perfect location for that.

Kerri and Jonathan’s wedding was also featured in One Fab Day.

Ceremony By The Willow Tree

Kerri and Jonathan were so blessed with the weather and they were able to have their ceremony by the beautiful willow tree. She walked down the aisle with her dad to music that is special to the couple. Conor Clear was their celebrant and made it even more personal, talking about the couples’ journey that led them to that moment.

We loved her wedding ring that was custom made with a mix of green gemstones and diamonds to represent the two of them and the two countries. So thoughtful!

Barberstown Castle Wedding Reception

Another key element for the couple was that they didn’t want anyone to worry about a schedule or any kind of obligations that day. They didn’t have any speeches or scheduled dances. On their wedding day everything felt so natural and whimsical. It was so lovely to see the children playing and family and friends all dancing and drinking together.

During the drinks reception the sister of the groom surprised them by playing their ceremony song “Falling Slowly” on the grand piano, which was another very special moment on the day.

Unfortunately Kerri’s grandparents were not able to attend their wedding at Barberstown Castle, so the bride had on display her Grandmother’s hatbox. It was a gift to the bride and it had been converted into a small table by her Grandfather, used to hold all the polaroid’s taken that day. The hatbox also had a silver pendant Kerri’s Grandmother made for her, which is a replica of a Saint Christopher pendant that her Grandmother bought her Grandfather when they first met.

Although the couple didn’t have a formal dance scheduled, they had all the guests join them for an impromptu first dance to Ray LaMontagne’s “You are the Best Thing” when they were announced for dinner.

Their cheese wheel cake was a dream. It looked amazing at the castle with natural elements of fruits & flowers and it was served 4-5 times over the course of the two days at Barberstown.

Late Night Drinks At The Haggard Pub

After dinner the couple and their guests moved to The Haggard Pub in the grounds of the castle.

The brother of the groom & Best Man, with the help of the whole Kane family, put together a custom treat truck at entrance of the  pub. The couple’s two oldest nephews, had so much fun serving the ice cream, slushies, and sweets.

Mary O’Neill  & John Tobin provided great music and it was the perfect way to end their celebration!
